Book of Brilliant Things - Five things we’ve loved this week - 23rd May

1. My new bag!

Mrs JO'B is away right now in Australia, but sent me this bag - my first bit of branded merchandise (and probably my only one!). But I rather like it and it's getting taken out to buy a record today!

2. Aretha Franklin - RESPECT

The trailer looks great! Can't wait to see Jennifer Hudson play Lady Soul herself.

It's available on Sky Arts and Now TV.

3. New Duran Duran single - Invisible

Loving the new video, created by an AI called Huxley - this is a cracking single. And there is a great interview with them in today's Guardian. Looking forward to seeing them at their (3rd time lucky!) rescheduled gig in Hyde Park next summer.

4. The The's Comeback Special

I was at this spectacular gig in 2018 (thanks Jackie and Ben for sorting the tickets!). It was a mesmerising show and this taster for the concert film by Tim Pope looks equally great.

5. Where's Bowie?

My friend Phillipa got me this marvellous Bowie themed Where's Waldo? book - which is hilariously hard, especially where some sections have multiple Bowies!

See you next week, blogs include reviews of Gruff Rhys' Seeking New Gods, a look back at The Sundays' Reading, Writing & Arithmetic, my top 20 instrumentals plus songs with spoken word pieces. Stay safe, x
